Laura Linney was one of the greatest American actors of recent times. Her strong and vulnerable performances have made her a household brand. Her father was a renowned playwright, but she was raised as an all-only child by a single mom who was a nurse. Through the summer months and with her father Linney was able to develop a passion for theater. Linney eventually pursued acting initially in Brown University then at Juilliard School. She began her Broadway career soon after completing her degree after which she made her television debut the following year. Since then, she has performed in many films and stage and TV productions. She's been nominated for three Academy Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her career. Her nominations include five Tony Awards and three Academy Awards nominations. However, despite her distinctions and awards, theatre is still her passion and she will continue to perform on the stage and on screen.
